Keeper: Import Passwords from Web Browsers

Modified on Thu, 10 Oct, 2024 at 6:15 PM

Keeper can easily import credentials that have been saved using the inbuilt password managers from web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge & Safari. On macOS, Keeper can also import your iCloud Keychain passwords.

It's best to follow this process in the Desktop App, as the web vault will require the installation of software you may not have permission to run.

Below is the table of contents, you can choose to complete this task in 1 of 3 ways: With the Windows Desktop App, Windows Web Vault (importing directly from your browser) or using the Windows Web Vault (using CSV files exporting them from the browser). If you encounter an issue when following one (i.e. when importing directly from the browser into the web vault) then try an alternative (i.e. importing into the web vault using CSV files).

The steps are identical for Mac users too, with the exception on minor differences when exporting CSV files but you should still be able to follow the same steps.

Windows Desktop App

  1. In the app, in the upper right-hand corner, click on your email address
  2. Click on Settings
  3. From the left-hand menu, click Import
  4. At the top will be an option titled "Passwords directly from web browser". Click the adjacent Import button
  5. Keeper will now scan for and import any passwords it can find saved in web browsers on the local device. Keeper will show the found passwords for your review before completing the import process.
  6. Once the import has completed & you've verified the records are correctly saved in your Keeper Vault, Lineal recommend deleting the credentials from your web browsers.
